When we run out of my favorite Thieves Dish Soap, I make this quick DIY in a pinch until my next Loyalty Order arrives. I ditched conventional dish soap years ago (even the “all natural” ones), and I’ve never looked back. No more dry, cracked hands — just simple ingredients that actually work.

This DIY Dish Soap with Thieves Household Cleaner is gentle, effective, and easy to mix whenever you need a refill. And with a house full of dishes to wash, it’s a cost-effective lifesaver.

Supplies

Ingredients

1/2 cup filtered or distilled water

2 teaspoons baking soda

2 capfuls Thieves Household Cleaner

10 drops Lemon essential oil

10 drops Thieves or Tea Tree essential oil

1 1/4 cup unscented liquid castile soap

1 tablespoon organic vegetable glycerin (optional)

Instructions

  1. In your glass bottle, combine distilled water and baking soda. Shake to dissolve.

  2. Add Thieves Household Cleaner and essential oils.

  3. Slowly pour in the castile soap and vegetable glycerin to avoid excess bubbles.

  4. Top bottle with more water if needed and swirl gently to combine.

To use, pump a small amount of soap under warm running water. Add more as needed.

A Quick Note on Suds

If you're used to big, fluffy bubbles, this DIY might look different. Most dish soaps use sodium lauryl sulfate to create suds — but SLS doesn’t actually make dishes cleaner. This recipe skips all those chemicals, so the bubbles are softer, but the cleaning power is real.
